Collet is a sweet and tangy-flavoured apple known for having high disease resistance. Skin is green with a strong bright red blush when ripe. The texture is firm, crunchy and very juicy. It's perfect for enjoying fresh and adds delicious flavour to any baking recipe, making mouth-watering pies. A top pick for dehydrated apples as well.
Collet apples tend to get the sweetest taste after a frost or two. It ripens around mid to late September and keeps well for up to 3 months in cold storage. The apples average around 8 cm (3") in diameter.
The Collet apple tree was discovered by Albert Collet and Sister Alice from Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in Manitoba. Selected from a chance seedling of over 300 apple seedlings from the Morden Research Centre.
